RMC Chapter Core Values: We believe homeowner and condominium associations should strive to exceed the expectations of their residents. We work toward this goal by identifying and meeting the evolving needs of the professionals and volunteers who serve associations, by being a trusted forum for the collaborative exchange of knowledge and information, and by helping our members learn, achieve and excel. Our mission is to inspire professionalism, effective leadership and responsible citizenship—ideals reflected in associations that are preferred places to call home.

      Creating HOA Boards That Work

If you live in a condominium, homeowners association, or housing cooperative, you know how important it is to have an effective governing board of directors.  The CAI Board Leader Certificate Program is designed to provide a foundation for effective community association board leadership.  Whether you are an experienced board member or just thinking about getting involved, this certificate will help you become a more informed and effective leader.

To Earn the CAI Board Leader Certificate:

      • Complete the CAI Board Leader Certificate Course (also known as the Board Leader Development Workshop). This course is offered in two formats: classroom instruction through CAI chapters, or an online, self-study course.
      • THIS registration is for the chapter course. It is presented virtually and is presented on one day - it is not self-paced. If you want the follow-up materials and certificate of completion, you must be virtually present when the course is presented.
      • Acknowledge that you have read and understand three key documents:

      1) Model Code of Ethics for Community Association Board Members
      2) Community Association Governance Guidelines
      3) Rights and Responsibilities for Better Communities

      Recognition

Community leaders who complete the CAI Board Leader Certificate will receive a certificate of completion and recognition on the CAI website.

      Other Education Opportunities

CAI also offers many other learning opportunities for homeowner leaders including webinars and national conferences and events.

Highlights of Rocky Mountain Chapter Program

Community association board members and volunteer leaders step up to take on positions of service and responsibility. They’re expected to anticipate issues, solve problems, meet the expectations of their residents and protect property values.

The workshop will teach you how to become a more successful board member and how you can recruit and support new volunteers. You’ll learn the role of the board, the president and other leadership positions, and you’ll identify effective ways to work with professional managers and service providers.

We will go over Colorado specific law as it applies to each module.

      • Governing Documents and Roles & Responsibilities. To start you on the right path, Module 1 helps you understand the legal authority for your association. It also clarifies the duties and responsibilities of each board member and the professionals who are available to assist the board.
      • Communications, Meetings and Volunteerism. Module 2 helps you learn how to maximize volunteer involvement in your community association by improving board communications, conducting effective meetings and building community spirit.
      • Fundamentals of Financial Management. Module 3 introduces the fundamentals of association financial management, including guidelines for protecting your association’s assets, preparing a budget, planning for the future and collecting assessments.
      • Professional Advisors and Service Providers. Because putting together the right team to support your association can be challenging, Module 4 provides practical tips on finding, evaluating and hiring qualified professional advisors and service providers.
      • Association Rules and Conflict Resolution. Module 5 explores guidelines for making reasonable association rules, enforcing rules fairly and resolving conflict effectively.
